IMPOTENCE - also called erectile dysfunction in general, the inability of a man to achieve or maintain penile erection and hence the inability to participate fully in sexual intercourse. In its broadest sense the term impotence refers to the inability to become sexually aroused; in this sense it can apply to women as well as to men. In common practice, however, the term has traditionally been used to describe only male sexual dysfunctions. Professional sex therapists, while they identify two distinct dysfunctions as forms of impotence, prefer not to use the term impotence per se. Thus, because of its pejorative connotation in lay usage and because of confusion about its definition, the word impotence has been eliminated from the technical vocabulary in favor of the term “erectile dysfunction.”

Traditionally, erectile impotence (the classical definition of impotence) is the failure to achieve penile erection during intercourse. It may have either physical or psychological causes. Alcoholism, endocrine disease, and neurological disorders are typical physical causes. Psychological causes include anxiety over performance, hostility or other negative feelings toward the sexual partner, and stress, anxiety, depression, or other emotional conflicts outside of the relationship. Erectile impotence occasionally occurs with age and, although attributed by the individual to the aging process itself, it is usually secondary to disorders of aging, such as faulty blood circulation or prostate disease. In cases of impotence caused by blood vessel dysfunction, an insufficient supply of blood flows into the penis, or the blood diffuses out into adjacent tissues.

In ejaculatory impotence, the male achieves an erection but cannot reach orgasm in the partner's vagina. The erection may be maintained for long periods, even long after the female partner has achieved orgasm. This form of impotence nearly always has an emotional rather than physical cause.

Psychotherapy, marital counselling, or sex therapy may be helpful in treating cases of impotence that have psychological or emotional causes. A range of other treatments exists for cases of impotence that arise from purely physiological causes. These treatments include vacuum devices, penile injections, and penile implants. These mechanical or physically invasive approaches have largely been superseded, however, by the drug Sildenafil Citrate - trade name Viagra, which is taken in pill form. This drug works by enhancing the effects of nitric oxide, a chemical that, upon sexual stimulation, is normally released to widen the blood vessels supplying the penis. Since it's first introduction to the marketplace, Pfizer's ® Viagra ® the anti-impotence pill, has been controversial, raising much more than just eyebrows. But then, this is probably due to what the drug does, and what part of the body it affects. The name, Viagra, was chosen by chance. Big companies often chose names and register them to use later. Viagra was just the next one in line, it was possibly fortuitous that it could mean, vitality, vigour, or having the power of Niagara Falls.

First developed in Sandwich, Kent in the United Kingdom, in 1989, for Angina pain relief. During trials it became apparent that the drug was improving the male patient's ability to have erections; this breakthrough was the deciding factor that led to Pfizer to develop the drug for the many many millions of men who suffer from some type of impotence. In 1990,  beta-trials were carried out in Bristol, England. When it was discovered what erroneous capabilities it had, when the story leaked out, men were queuing up to use this drug, and some reported having their first erections for many years. 

In New York, the home of Pfizer, it was welcomed as a new wonder-drug, the new sex-drug, but it was not an aphrodisiac, but its effects had an aphrodisiac result. If a man take an aphrodisiac, he might feel more sexy, and therefore more prone to sexual stimulus, and get an easier erection. But then if a man gets an erection with a little sexual stimulus, this also will make him feel  more sexy.

Within two weeks of its inauguration on the drug market, in the USA,  Viagra ® was one of the fastest selling drugs in the history of medicine. By Spring of 1998, the drug's accomplishments were responsible for raising not only Pfizer's market capitalization, but also public awareness. Outshining it biggest competitor the pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co. This increase made Pfizer the largest company in the pharmaceutical sector by the Summer 1998.  Now 1,500,000,000 doses are taken each year.

Sildenafil Citrate, Viagra's chemical name, was initially developed as a treatment for the heart condition angina. Men with some vascular problems have them on occasion because of restricted blood flow, Pfizer wanted to open up the veins, and alleviate this dilemma. Despite its promising beginnings, Viagra's reputation soon began to wilt. Increased use of the product obviously also increased the possibility of a greater incidence of problems. Mealey Publications, set up Mealey's Viagra Watch, a newsletter following Viagra's developments both positive and negative, it described  Viagra  Watch as,   ". . . . . . . . a watch, like a tornado watch. ",  meaning that a lot of people have seen a tornado, but only a small percentage have actually suffered by it.

The National Law Journal informed that, the FDA reported 39 patients in the United States who died after taking Viagra, through June, a time period in which nearly 3 million Viagra prescriptions were filled in the USA. Nevertheless, the tablet has gone from strength to strength.

What is Viagra / Kamagra?
This drug is a innovative medicine now available for male Erectile Dysfunction (ED), often called impotency. Perhaps 50% of all men have a problem with this at some time or another. Included in this number, around 20% of all men, have severe problems with this condition; some not having an erection for years. How does Kamagra work?
Normally, when a man is sexually aroused, the arteries in the penis relax and widen, allowing more blood to flow into the tissues of the penis. Blood pressure can rise, and the mere sight and feeling of this enlarging organ, can increase blood flow. As the arteries in the penis expand and harden, the veins that carry blood away from the penis become compressed. This mechanical aspect confines the blood to the penis. How long does it take to work?

It can take from 30 minutes to 1 hour for Viagra tablets to take effect. Generally, it is recommended to take a tablet one hour before you plan to have sex.

Can I take more than one dose per day?

It is recommended that you restrict usage to no more than 100mg per 24 hour period.

What are the possible side effects of taking Kamagra?

The most common side effects are stomach upset, nasal stuffiness, diarrhoea,  dizziness, headache, facial flushing, and  some nausea.
